Today, I went to Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Diesel Day. The locos that were in operation were d8137 (20137),24081,37215,37248,47105,47376 and 08683 & 08927 were running shunter trips at Toddington

Today, As the snow had fallen I went to Cardiff and pictured DRS' 66412 in Malcolm colours and 66415 in normal compass colours. I then saw 31105 parked in Pengam sidings on a test train. I then pictured DRS' 66414 'James the Engine' with DRS' Compass Livery 66413 hauling the 6M67 Bridgwater-Crewe Nuclear Flasks. I then went to Filton and pictured 57303 'Alan Tracey' in Virgin Trains with 57315 in Arriva Trains Wales colours on First Great Western's Taunton-Cardiff diagram. Today, I went to Cardiff Central and pictured DRS' Malcolm liveried 66412 parked by Cardiff Signal Box. It had worked the day before on a scrap train from Tyne Docks. Also DRS' 66415 was sat in front of 57005 which had also worked a scrap from Shirpley. I then pictured 57303 leading 57315 on the 5C89 ECS weorking from Taunton to Cardiff Canton which was diverted via Gloucester due to Severn Tunnel being shut

Today, I had to get up at 4am to catch 05.07 to Shrewsbury. I then had to wait at Shrewsbury for Spitfire Tour's "Yuletide York" from Birmingham International to York and Newcastle. DRS had provided 37259 & 37609 for the tour with West Coast Railway Company providing 47787 on rear for the train heat.We departed Shrewsbury ontime and headed for Crewe. We stopped outside Crewe and managed to get some shots of the stored DB Schenker Class 56's that were ex-France workers in Fertis colours. Then we headed for York via Huddersfield where snow lay all over the Pennines. Then when we got to York you had a choice of either having 5 and a half hours break or go on a mini tour to Newcastle. Got some shots of some buses and East Coast HST'S and Class 91's. Also got some shots of the 37's at Newcastle. On return leg 47787 had a bogie fault so was left behind so now train heat on the way home. I would like to thank Spitfire for providing a very enjoyable tour and DRS for the choice of locos.

Today, I went to Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Diesel Gala. This was where the Growler group owned 37248 in West Coast Railway colours was to perform its first gala on the railway. Other locos that took part were 20137,24081,33109,37215,37324,47105 and 47376.

Today, I went to Cardiff and pictured Royal Skips 67006 & 67005 on a special working for a Welsh Television programme. It ran from Wembley to Cardiff Canton. I caught it on the return leg at Cardiff Cntral Station.The consist containned a Ex Virgin DVT 82101 which was behind 67006 with 4 MK2 Cargo-D coaches and 2 MK3 Cargo-d coaches

Today, I went to Somerton and pictured 60073 on very late running 6B13 0510 Roberstone-Westerleigh Murco Tanks. Originally 60054 was running the service but failed down in West Wales so 60073 was sent to rescue it. The train past Somerton at 13.10 running 215 minutes late!!!!

Today, I went to Crosskeys and pictured DB Schenker's 66237 & 66159 on RHTT working. This is the 3S59 Barton Hill-Barton Hill via South Wales. They were running early as the line was shut for engineering works. Pictured the sheds at Crosskeys and Ebbw Vale

Today, I went to Cwmbran and pictured WCRC'S 47851 'Traction Magazine' with 37676 'Loch Rannocoh' 5Z65 Bishops Lydeard-Carnforth Steamtown. This was the ECS back to Carnforth after saturdays' Spitfire Tour 'The Jorvic Growler' which ran from Taunton-York. I then went to Newport ADJ and pictured 60004 stabbled there. Ta for all the information on the workings and I hope JS had a good time in Magor with the bikers!!

Today, I went on Spitfire Tours 'Jorvic Growler' from Taunton-York. The tour soon got in to difficulties when it reached Bristol Parkway as they were having problems with 37516. On the ECS running down the day before, 47787 had caught fire so they replaced it with 47851. They decided to put 47851 on the front with the 2x37's. After 98 minute delay, we underway with the 3 locos on the front. It did catch up some time but not much and arrived in to York around 80 minutes late. They decided not to run the Harrogate loop as this would have left only 1 hour for some customers to explore York. On the return leg,they took 37516 off and 37676 went on the rear leaving 47851 'Traction Magazine' to head the train home. Thanks to Spitfire and West Coast for the service they provided. Also caught Grand Central's 180112 on the 13.35 departure off York to Sunderland and also 43084 & 43065 on the 14.05 departure to Kings Cross. The line between Newcastle and Edingburgh was closed for engineering work so all services were being diverted across to Carlisle.Hope JS got the pics he wanted

Today, I went to Crosskeys and pictured Network Rail's 31454 in Intercity Livery with DBSO 9701. It was running over 50 minutes late and arrived at Crosskeys at 01.30. Then had to wait at signal for RHTT train to pass from Ebbw Vale with 66159 & 66237 in charge of that. I then went to Ebbw Vale and pictured it there. Thanks to all information

Today, I went to Weymouth on the last weekend of First Great Western's Bristol-Weymouth loco hauled. As it was the very last one, DB provided two class 37's for the trip no's 37670+37401. They had both run down the day before in preparation for the train.

Today, I went to Bristol to catch DB Schenker's 66153 operate on the Taunton-Cardiff diagrams due to unavaliablilty of a class 67. 67025 desperately needed tyre turning so 66153 ran the whole day. Caught it on the 12.21 departure ton Cardiff which had 67005 leading but due to issues later on with the crew they diverted the train in to Bristol Parkway so that meant the shed took control of the train. It made up some time betwen Bristol and Newport an was only a few mnutes late in to Cardiff

Today, I went to Doncaster & York. Got 43123 & 43067 on Grand Central to Kings Cross.

Today, I went on Spitfire Tours 'Cumbrian Crusader' tour from Wolverhampton to Carlisle. This was the first time Spitfire had had a mixed lot of locos and also a first for operator DRS. The first leg was run by DRS Dred 66430 from Wolves to Leeds where 37607 & 37604 took the train to Carlisle via Skipton and Settle Carlisle which sholud have been a class 20 & 37 but due to unavaliability of a class 20, 2x37's were used. Then at Carlisle it should have been a pair of DRS 37'S but due to 37229 having problems at Kingmoor then produced WCRC 37676 which ran with 37087 and 57007 was on the rear. Then problems started to occur and at Blackburn 57007 was on fire due to locked wheelsets so was dumped in a siding near the station which made us over an hour late. Then we were stopped outside Wakefield due to points failure. Then when we arrived at Wakefield station, told but stewards that we would be going via Doncaster for passengers travelling to York. Then when we finally got back to Birmingham New Street, due to Network Rail possesion between bns and wolves, the train terminated there and had 3 coaches put on for passengers for Wolverhampton

Today, I went to Tamworth and pictured 66417 on an intermodal heading north. A few class 66,90 & 92's on various workings. Also saw Network Rail's NMT with 43062 and 43013 which has just had a MTU engine fitted to it. Also caught 60019 on the 6E41 Westerleigh-Lindsey Tanks and 60011 on the Willesden-Tunstead cement working. At Rugby pictured 57305 stabbled on stand-by duty.

Hi, Today, I went to Taunton and pictured 66732 dragging recently repainted and named 73141 on the 0O74 Minehead-Tonbridge Yard. They had been down Minehead for both the locos to be named. I then pictured 57604 on the 5Z79 Old Oak Common-Penzance ECS Sleeper. 57602 had failed the night before and no 57 was avaliable so a hst set ran the sleeper. I then pictured 66623 with 66520 parked on Kingsland Road.

Today, I pictured 66094 in Cardiff on steel to Margam. I then pictured 67025 stabbled at Bristol Parkway as this is due to switch places with 67016 on Taunton-Cardiff's as 16 needs an exam. I then caught 43316 & 43239 on the 19.40 Newquay-Manchester Piccadilly from Bristol Parkway to Cheltenham Spa

Today, I went to Cheltenham where I saw 31233 with DBSO 9703 on 4Z08 Fishguard Harbour-Derby RTC. At Gloucester was Advenza Freight new arrival in the form of 66842 (ex DRS 66407) from Glasgow Works but didn't get a picture of it. I then caught Crosscountry's 09.25 service with NEXC'S 43307 & 43317 on the 1V45 07.00 Manchester Piccadilly-Newquay. I then waited in Bristol for NEXC'S 43308 & 43319 which where working on the 1S47 09.30 Newquay-Dundee with Crosscountry stock. They had worked the previous day but where running over 90 minutes late as they left the brakes on mk3 45004 between Edinburgh and Dunbar!!! Today, I went to Bristol and first pictured Advenza Freight's 66841 stabbled on the back of Bristol Temple Meads. I then pictured 37194 leading 37087 on Spitfire Tours 'Kernow Growler' 1Z70 Birmingham International-Penzance. I then managed to get to Taunton to catch them storm through there. I then waited at Taunton for Pathfinder Tours 1Z37 Portsmouth Harbour-Penzance with 40145. This was allocated two DBS class 37's but with problems they changed it to 40145. I then later on went back to Bristol and did a part fare between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway with 37087 leading 37194 on the 1Z73 Penzance-Birmingham International for just £5. I then went to the bridge just outside Bristol Parkway station and pictured the tractors growling away. Many thanks to everyone for upadates and hope Jamie had a good time in the south west

They were nearly 80 minutes late due to 66952 failing on 6M55 Portbury-Rugeley coal not far from where I photyographed it. 66607 came from Cardiff to push it to Hereford where it took control and dragged 66952 to Crewe Bashford Hall. Today, I went to Llandevenny and Magor and pictured the 67's on taunton-cardiff's. Also pictured 66566 on 6M04 Portbury-Rugeley coal, 66119 on 6B65 Westbury-Newport ADJ and 66187 on 6C02 Avonmouth-Newport ADJ Cargowagons.

On my home, snow was very heavy so I was stuck in traffic so decided to take some pictures of the lorries passing me.

Today, I went to Duffryn and pictured 60074 on the 6B13 0510 Roberstone-Westerleigh Murco Tanks. It was nearly 325 minutes late due to 60072 failing and a tank having brake problems in West Wales. Also pictured 66087 on 6B99 ADJ-Cardiff Canton fuel tanks and 66056 on flat wagons from Barry to ADJ for enterprise in the night

Today I went to Cardiff and pictured some buses in the Bus Station. I also pictured 57006 stabbled in the siding in Cardiff

Today, I went to Cardiff and Newport to picture 66006 with 67028 on First Great Western's Loco Hauled Taunton-Cardiff Central service. Earlier in the day 67016 had failed at Weston-Super-Mare with coolent problems. 66006 was sent light engine from Westbury and worked the service from Bristol Temple Meads. On the return service had to divert to Bristol Parkway so that the skip was leading.

Today I went to Cardiff and pictured lots of buses at the Bus Station. Then went to Cardiff Bay on 121032 and pictured some buses in the Bay.

Today, I went to Bristol and pictured all 4 sets of Crosscountry hst's. I also pictured 66560 on 6Z87 Fairwater Yard-Crewe Carriage Sidings.

Today, I went to Barrow Hill and pictured three of the Network Rail class 37's. Also pictured 73117 recently delivered from Meldon Quarry

I pictured 43048 in EMT livery with 43045. Then pictured 43072+082 on Sheffield service. Also pictured class 153's and 158's at Derby. Then went to Gloucester and pictured 47145 stabbled there.

Today, I went to Newport and pictured 57009 first running light engine through Newport on route to Barry to pick up 57002+57003 for DRS. I then pictured them from the car park next to the River Usk and pictured them travelling across the bridge and up the Marches line. I also pictured 43013+43014 on the Measurement Train.

Today, I went to Park Junction and pictured 59102 on the Machen Quarry to Westbury stone. I then went to East Usk (Somerton) and pictured 66174 on the MOD from Didcot to Wentloog. I pictured other freights.

Today, I went to Gear Junction and pictured 47245 dragging 47772 on a 0Z47 Margam-Carnforth. The consist were running very late at around 160 minutes late! I also pictured the very late Wentloog-Southampton hauled by 66594. I seen a few 60's and 66's on freight. I also seen recently refrehsed 150232 on a Cardiff-Taunton and 175004 in Arriva on a Manchester-Milford Haven service

Today, I went to Newport and pictured 66414 dragging new fastline 66's 66301,66304+66305 from Newport Docks to Crewe Gresty Bridge. I seen freightliners 3 class 66's 66598,66599+66953 parked on the docks.

Today, I went to Newport and pictured 60021 on Parc Slip-Westbury MGRS at AD Junction. I then pictured 60044 on a Round Oak-Margam. Then 60077 on a Filton West Junction-AD Junction engineers train. Then 60071+60091 passed Newport station on a Margam-Corby.

Today, I went to Cheltenham Spa and caught with my pre booked ticket 37606+37423 from Cheltenham to Bristol Parkway ,£ 7.50 costing to travel on the train. The 37's were running on Spitfire Tours 'Paignton Pudden' from Crewe to Paignton. I then went to Westbury and photographed the Cranmore shuttles with 59001+66200 as the motive power. I didn't have enough to catch them so went to Salisbury and pictured some class 158+159 units. I then returned to Westbury and pictured 67021 on the Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads extra.

Today I went to Newport and pictured 60085+60074 on a steel to Llanwern. I then pictured 66414 running light engine from Crewe to Newport Docks. I also pictured 60021,60084,60054,60026 all at Newport. I pictured 66102 on MOD and 66516 on liner to Southampton

Then I pictured 67021+67016 with an empty coaching stock to Swansea running approx 220 minutes later. Then I pictured 67006 with 67005 with the 12.38 off Newport extra to Cardiff. Also pictured 67026 with 67025 which had broken down at Newbury on 13.38 to Cardiff. I also pictured 60083 working light engine and 60047 on tanks. Today, The first class 142 to run a passenger service from Ebbw Vale to Cardiff was 142069. I pictured it at Cardiff after arrival from the Ebbw Vale branch. I pictured 67028+67002 running back with the coaches from saturday's extra's for Wales vs Scotland. I also pictured 66564 on a stone train heading west through Cardiff and many class 60's. Today, I pictured the rugby extras for the Wales vs Scotland Game at Bristol and Cardiff. 67005+67006 on one set, 67029+67024 on another and the third set was 67002+67028. Some pictures of todays opening of the Ebbw Vale Line. It cost £30 million pounds and many years to reconstruct but finally it opened to the public on 6th February. The first train was the 06.40 from Ebbw Vale Parkway to Cardiff Central and 150230+150254 worked this trip. This was the first pair of class 150's on the line and had the VIP's on board. The 0635 off Cardiff to Ebbw Vale was worked by 150240. The other unit used was 150242. Then later on 150283 joined in and run the last trip to Ebbw Vale. This then run back Empty coaching stock back to Cardiuff Canton.

Today, I pictured 47237 with last remaining Valentas power cars 43002+43003 through Cardiff Central station. Also at Newport pictured 43062+43014 on Measurement train and 66503 on Southampton- Wentloog.
